The SoulFisher Ministries’ work in the community is not possible without the faithful service of our volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, we would love to hear from you.


Volunteers of The SoulFisher Ministries:
● Lead our Boards of Directors and committees
● Help raise funds to ensure The SoulFisher Ministries is accessible to

    our entire target communities
● Tutor students in our after school tutoring program
● Instruct adult women in prison in the classroom
● Instruct computer literacy classes
● Instruct and assist with career services (resume writing, interviewing, etc.)
● Mentor youth and/or adult women in prison

Current Openings

Tutor - Immediate Availability (Part-time)

The SoulFisher Ministries is searching for dedicated people to tutor students enrolled in the Educate Now to Achieve Later (ENAL) program. Program hours during the school year are 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM on Monday and Wednesday as well as 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM on Tuesday and Thursday. Summer hours are Monday through Friday daily from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

 

Qualified applicants should:

  • Posses solid fundamental math competencies

  • Able to adaptable in a rapidly moving program

  • Commited to life-long learning

  • Strong interpersonal skills instrument in engaging students

  • Be very dependable and reliable

 

All applicants should have access to a car or transportation, as tutoring facilities are not readily accessible via public transportation. Any one over the age of 16 is welcome to apply and must be able to pass a background screening. All educational backgrounds are accepted, with preference given to those with a focus in education. All applicants invited for an interview will need to take a math assessment without a calculator and earn at least an 80%.

Reading Specialist  (Part-Time)

The SoulFisher Ministries is seeking a dependable, hard-working, and dedicated reading specialist for women incarcerated at Women’s Eastern Reception Diagnostic & Correctional Center (WERDCC) who are enrolled in the Adult General Academic Program of Education (AGAPE) Adult Literacy Program, designed to help improve the literacy level of women who are incarcerated or on parole/probation in St. Louis City and St. Louis County.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma

    • Preferably a Bachelor and/or Master degree in Education; Reading Specialist Certificate is a plus

  • Possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Easily able to adapt to different situations and settings

  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing education/continuing professional development

  •  Willing to travel

  • Assist in the selection of appropriate materials utilized in the classroom for corrective purposes

  • Provides demonstrations of new methods and materials

  • Plans and conducts periodic evaluations to assess the need for change in the reading program

Case Manager: Re-Entry Program (Full-time)

Job Summary

The SoulFisher Ministries is seeking an individual who performs highly complex case management work. This work involves reviewing and tracking case management activities, and assisting in developing program goals, objectives, and procedures.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Admits new clients by reviewing records and applications; conducting orientations.

  • Determines clients' requirements by completing intake interviews; determining need for therapeutic medical, psycho-social, and psychiatric evaluations.

  • Establishes treatment programs by setting schedules and routines; coordinating services being provided; arranging resources, including transportation and escort.

  • Monitors cases by verifying clients' attendance; observing and evaluating treatments and responses; advocating for needed services and entitlements; obtaining additional resources; intervening in crises; providing personal support.

  • Maintains clients' records by reviewing case notes; logging events and progress.

  • Communicates clients' progress by conducting weekly interdisciplinary meetings and evaluations; disseminating results and obstacles to therapeutic team and family; identifying treatment influences.

  • Prepares clients' discharge by reviewing and amplifying discharge plans; coordinating discharge and post-discharge requirements;

  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing treatment and results data and trends; compiling statistics; completing grant and subsidy applications.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, and/or Criminal Justice;

  • At least one year work and/or practicum experience.

Reentry Program Coordinator (Full-time)

 

Job Summary

 The SoulFisher Ministries is seeking a reliable individual who performs intermediate professional and administrative work by providing counseling, case management, referral services and coordinating program activities for the community-based Reentry Program for women who have recently completed active jail/prison sentences.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the Reentry Program including program volunteers, background checks, and program scheduling and activities; interviewing potential clients to identify barriers to successful reentry; Developing individualized case plans; providing counseling and referral services to meet identified needs; preparing case summaries and reports; maintaining records, files and confidentiality.

  • Develops and recommends program policies and procedures including intake procedures, assessment process, reporting systems and service termination process in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Develops agreements and programs with community agencies to provide a variety of services needed by clients.

  • Establishes monitoring and evaluation processes to determine the effectiveness of the programs.

  • Tracks progress and results and communicates with The Department of Corrections via statistical reports.

  • Performs case management duties including cooperating with the local Probation and Parole staff and community partners to identify clients appropriate for the program; establishing a case file for each client; developing an initial client needs assessment; and collecting related data such as school, employment, criminal and mental health records.

  • Provides educational trainings and presentations to local officials and community groups.

  • Travels to, educational facilities, health and mental health facilities, and other service agencies such as, meetings, trainings and conferences.

  • The Re-Entry Program Coordinator will report directly to the CEO.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor degree from an accredited 4-year college or university, preferably in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, and/or Criminal Justice.

  • At least one year work and/or practicum experience.
